The Middle East is an area where automobile is king and fuel is inexpensive, typically leaving little reward to discover more environmentally-friendly ways of moving around.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have risen the cost of oil, the issue of discovering alternative sources of fuel has entered into sharp focus.

In a region that has one of the greatest carbon footprints in the world, one service is making the most of the growing pressure to discover alternatives to oil. It's set up the Middle East's first plan to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's showing lucrative too, currently their client-list includes McDonald's.
