    1.2.1.05 Jobseeker payment (JSP) - description

    What is JSP?

    JSP is the working age payment that changed NSA from 20 March 2020.

    JSP is an income assistance payment that provides financial support to people aged 22 years to age pension age who have capability to work now or in the near future and prepared to satisfy mutual commitment requirements.

    JSP will consist of access for individuals who have briefly stopped working or studying to recover from a disease or injury however who have a task or research study to return to. When the inability ends, and unless excused from shared commitments requirements (3.11.5), a recipient need to:

    - take part in or be willing to get involved in approved activities, and/or job search, and
  • be prepared to enter into, comply with or differ an existing Job Plan to satisfy the shared responsibility requirements (3.11 ).

    How is JSP entitlement figured out?

    JSP is computed on an everyday basis and is paid in financial obligations, generally in instalments of 14 days. Instalment durations of less than 2 week might be paid where an individual modifications their payday plans.

    Supplementary help

    Recipients getting JSP MAY also receive one or more of the following as part of their JSP rate:

    - rent assistance (1.2.7.10).
  • energy supplement (1.2.7.50).
  • pharmaceutical allowance (1.2.7.20).
  • remote location allowance (1.2.7.80).
  • approved program of work supplement (1.2.7.180).

    They MAY also be entitled to the following while in receipt of JSP:

    - telephone allowance (1.2.7.70). HCC (1.2.8.10) or employment PCC (1.2.8.20). LLNS (1.2.7.110) if carrying out training through the Skills for Education and Employment Program.

    Background to JSP

    JSP was introduced on 20 March 2020. The following payments gradually stopped as part of the creation of JSP:

    - NSA (1.2.1.10) (stopped on 20 March 2020). SA (1.2.5.30) (near brand-new recipients on 20 March 2020 and stopped on 20 September 2020). BVA (near new recipients on 20 March 2020 and stopped when all existing receivers completed their bereavement duration). WA (1.2.3.30) (near to brand-new receivers on 1 July 2018 and ceased on 1 January 2022). WP (1.2.3.20) (near new receivers on 1 July 1995 ceased on 20 March 2020). PA (1.2.2.10) (near brand-new recipients on 20 September 2003 ceased on 1 January 2022). WidB (1.2.3.40) (near to new recipients on 20 March 1997 stopped on 20 March 2020).
